Press + Media Pass
Apply for a press + media pass at Pride Canterbury.
Press + Media Passes
To request a pass, please scroll down to access the application form. After the event, you may upload photo albums to Pride Canterbury using the upload form on this page. We have a seperate page for our press + media kit. For interview requests, please contact us directly. We recommend that all our press + media pass holders gain a wide array of imagery throughout the day from start to finish to fully showcase Pride Canterbury, including our Parade.
-
The contents on this page are considered the terms and conditions of press + media passes at Pride Canterbury. In addition to this page, you are required to adhere to our General T&Cs.
Pride Canterbury is a celebration of inclusion, diversity + love throughout our community. With that in mind, we ask that all members of our photography team reflect these values in both their conduct + imagery they capture throughout the day. Please be courteous and respectful to fellow photographers at all times.
Please note, there are no storage facilities available.
If you have any issues at the event, you should not attempt to resolve this yourself + should instead contact our team. Most importantly, always remain aware of your surroundings and follow any instructions from event staff or security.
-
Press must have registered in advance with Pride Canterbury to receive a press + media pass (see below). If you have not registered, please visit Pride HQ at the Pride Festival (NOT the Parade) on event-day to enquire further.
Passes (in the form of a wristband) can be collected from Pride HQ in the Pride Festival. These must be collected before being able to access the Parade Staging Area or to photograph the parade.
When accessing the Pride Festival both before and after event opens, please access via the advertised VFP + VIP Fast Track Entrance and show proof of being on the press list to whoever is at the door to gain access. If there are any issues with this or the gate is closed, there will be staff at the Main Entrance to assist. Please then navigate to Pride HQ.
Click here for our site map to see the location of all these points.

Press are asked that when taking close up pictures of individuals or groups that verbal permission is gained. When photos are crowd shots, this doesn't need to apply.
Any photos taken may be used in Pride Canterbury material, credit will be given to the photographer. Pride Canterbury will also take our own pictures for publication during and after the event, including general crowd pictures. If an individual consents to having a photo taken, they also accept that photos of them may be used.
Where possible, please send Pride Canterbury CIC the photos after if you would like them considered for upload to our website and social media (with credits)! Please note that we may not always be able to tag you on social media, but we will provide credits. See below to upload.

Main Stage Pit access is provided to support photographers that are providing Pride Canterbury with a large album of photos for publishing. If you have a pass for any other reason (i.e. news outlet), you may still access the Main Stage Pit but we ask that you support Pride Canterbury by allowing those taking our photo albums to have priority access.
You may only spend 15 minutes in the Main Stage Pit before you must exit to allow other photographers access – you may immediately join the queue to re-enter. In the unlikely case there is no queue, you may remain until the next photographer arrives to enter the Main Stage Pit (please double-check that a nearby photographer isn’t catching a few quick photos while they wait!). In addition, only four photographers may be in the Main Stage Pit at a time.
You must self-manage these 15 minutes windows + four photographer limit. If you exceed these limits you will be asked to leave the Main Stage Pit and may not be able to return. If you are unsure on these limits or have lost track of time, security is positioned here and will be very happy to assist – please speak to them!
These limits may be changed on event-day by a combination of our Security Team, Main Stage Manager, and Pride Management. If there is a change, security will advise you as you enter the Main Stage Pit.
Please be courteous to your media colleagues by grabbing your shot and then making room for the next person. These guidelines are strictly outlined to ensure all pass holders have a fair opportunity to photograph from this area. We ask all photographers to still gain a wide breadth of imagery from all areas of the park as those aspects are hugely important.
Please note, no access is available to artist or other backstage areas.

-
Occasionally, we may provide some visibility of artist performance times across our stages. This must NOT be shared or photographed. We do not release any artist / stage timings to the public for the safety of both the artists + attendees.
-
We recommend looking at our site map for all areas of the park. Where possible, we hope that all photographers can spend time in every area of the event to gain a full variety of photos. If you see multiple other photographers in the same location, please continue moving to a different area to ensure full coverage of the event.
Some particular focal points for us are:
The Parade departing from Westgate Gardens at 11:00am.
The amazing community spaces and activities across the event.
The atmosphere and energy of the crowd itself.
Submit an Application
You may submit an application as early as one day after the most recent event. Please complete this form by the deadline of 2nd April, but the sooner the better! Applications submitted after this date may not be processed in time for the event. After this deadline, you must also contact us to ensure we are aware of your application and we will review if there are any additional passes available. We keep some passes reserved for news/media outlets – please also contact us so we can book you in.
Photo Album + Credits Upload
Please use this form to upload photo albums after the event to Pride Canterbury. After uploading files, you can then specify the credits that Pride Canterbury should use when sharing your photos.
In the unlikely case that you are not able to upload the full photo album here, please upload one photo only, as this will then allow you to complete the mandatory form (this appears after upload) with your credits, etc, and in this form you can supply a link to where your full album is externally hosted for us to download. Please note, that this will delay us releasing your album as our team will need to manually upload this to the portal themselves.
