Supporting Policies + Information
The ‘what to bring’ / ‘please leave at home’ information above forms the primary basis of our attendee terms and conditions. We have included our supporting policies below that supplement this and provide further information for attendees + organisations.
Our guidelines make sure everyone understands their responsibilities and is aware of what is and isn't acceptable at Pride Canterbury. We ask that all attendees abide by the outlined rules; it helps us keep the event a safe space for everyone. By attending the event in any capacity, you have already accepted to follow these terms and conditions.
Please note, there are no storage areas at Pride Canterbury and you must keep all your belongings on you at all times.
-
Pride Canterbury is a celebration of diversity and equality and all attendees are expected to embrace and respect this diversity and equality.
You are required to have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions before attending the event in any capacity. If you do not agree to these Terms & Conditions, you must not attend the event. Any questions should be directed to Pride Canterbury.
We will not tolerate any threatening, violent or offensive behaviour against our volunteers, staff, other attendees, police, security personnel, or members of the public.
We will not tolerate any individual or group making derogatory remarks about a person's sexuality, gender identity, race, age, nationality, disability, appearance, religion, political belief or any other factor. Anyone who displays behaviour that contravenes this rule can expect to be removed from the event immediately.
Any individual infringing the bodily integrity of other participants (i.e. sexual misconduct) will be immediately removed from the event. (If you are in a parade group, your group may also be removed from the parade).
There are clear legal guidelines regarding alcohol, drugs, public nudity, etc, which participants are expected to abide by. Laws must always be obeyed.
One sealed (unbroken seal from manufacture) water bottle (max 1L bottle) is permitted and encouraged. Empty reusable bottles are permitted – these can be filled at our on-site water points in the Dane John Gardens (note: there are no refill points in the Parade Staging Area).
No objects are to be thrown at attendees (including at parade spectators on the parade route). This includes the use of silly string, party poppers and water pistols.
You are not permitted to play amplified music without prior permission.
Recycling and general waste disposal points are available around the site. Please dispose of your litter responsibly and help us continue to be a green event.
Accreditation must not be shared on social media until after the event.
Photos are taken at the event by our approved photographers (who will have appropriate accreditation from us to identify themselves). These photos may be used in online + physical marketing materials, and by attending you have given us permission to use these photos. If you wish for us to remove a photo, it is your responsibility to send us the links to the uploaded photos for us to delete. Please note, this does not guarantee that the photo has not already been used in unreleased future marketing materials.
If you see or are notified of any incident that would break these Terms & Conditions or the law, please notify the Pride Canterbury Committee or the security team immediately. Anyone found to have failed to report any incidents may face being removed from the parade and refusal into the main event.
We (the Pride Canterbury Committee and the security team (AKON Security)) reserve the right to refuse entry, or remove anyone, who does not follow these Terms & Conditions or behaves inappropriately (see Consequences of Failing to abide by our Terms and Conditions below).

Attendees may bring medication necessary for their personal use into the event, and only of a maximum quantity required for a 48 hour (2 day) period which should be clearly written on either the medication or a valid prescription. All medication must be in the original packaging, with no exceptions. If you do not require your medication during the day, then please leave this at home as it will delay your entry.
Any attendees believed to be intending to sell or distribute will be immediately removed from the event and may be permanently banned from returning. Security reserves the right to deny any medication entering the premises if its genuineness cannot be confirmed to their satisfaction, or if they believe there is intent to distribute. Illegal substances are not permitted under any circumstances.
If you require any medical assistance during the event, please seek advice from our on-site first aid team. Any member of staff or security will be able to direct you to where they are located.
On-the-Shelf / Over-the-Counter
If the medication is on-the-shelf or over-the-counter, then this must be factory sealed, no open medication is permitted under any circumstances. If the medication is in blister packaging, factory sealed refers to a single blister packaged sheet; only the minimum number of blister packed sheets to fulfil the quantity limitations outlined will be permitted. Only products classed as medication, or factory sealed effervescent tablets for rehydration purposes (i.e. Berocca, O.R.S, etc), can be permitted through this policy.Prescription
If the medication requires a prescription, then please bring evidence of your prescription (i.e. NHS app). Where possible, please only bring blister-packed medication. Loose medication is permitted within the quantity limitations outlined and will require additional checks by security.Other Enquiries
If you have any questions that this policy does not answer, please contact us.Rationale
This policy aims to balance the need for medication access, with safety and security concerns. It recognises that some necessary medications do not come in blister packs and that preventing attendees from bringing essential medication would be unreasonable. It also considers the likelihood that individuals with only a small quantity of medication (such as one or two pills), and that can provide evidence of need, are using it for personal use, and larger quantities may indicate intentions contrary to event policies. Thank you for your understanding. -
Please bring a factory sealed bottled water (of any size) and/or an empty re-usable water bottle. At the festival site, we have several free water points (highlighted on our site map) that you can use. To prevent illegal substances (or items that our license does not permit) from entering the event, we are unable to permit opened bottles of water (or any other drinks). Please pour this away as you approach the entrance point so you can pass through security quickly. Upon entering the site, you may then fill-up your water bottle with clean fresh water.
If a water point becomes empty, you will be directed to the next available water point. We carefully calculate the number of water points at the event to ensure continued access to water; in the unlikely case this is depleted, we have plans in place to ensure continued access to water throughout the event. Please speak to Pride HQ at the event if you have any concerns.
Parade Participants: Limited water is available in the Parade Staging Area — opened water is therefore permitted in a clear bottle. This will need to be emptied at the festival site and refilled at our water points.

Dog owners must complete the 2024 Dog Registration Form prior to attending. You will receive an email confirmation immediately after completion which you must present to the security team upon entry. We are unable to permit any other pets to the event.
Entry with a pet is not a guarantee or a right and permission can be revoked at any time by any member of the Pride Canterbury Event Management Committee or the Security Team. All dogs must be kept on a short leash at all times. All pets must be well behaved. If they are suspected to not be well-behaved and/or the owner cannot display the ability to control their pet they will be removed from the site. All owners must clean up after their pets and leave the site in a clean and decent state.
Please remember that this is a family friendly event and security reserve the right to deny entry. Dogs such as XL Bully dogs may not be permitted, as per government guidance.

No vehicles are permitted in the parade or on-site without the prior written permission from the Pride Canterbury Event Organising Committee. Transportation details for attendees can be found on our website.
You must display your vehicle pass on the windscreen of your vehicle at all times in the Dane John Gardens. The registration number, and other details on the access pass, must be accurate. This pass is only available with permission from Pride Canterbury. If you have not received your pass, please contact your account liaison.
The vehicle must arrive in the allocated time window. Before or after this you will be denied access, unless agreed otherwise with your account liaison.
Every vehicle must have an allocated driver who is capable and insured for driving the specified vehicle. No other drivers may operate the vehicle. All vehicles must be: legally roadworthy (MOT), insured, and taxed.
The doors of the vehicle must be locked at all times to prevent anyone other than the allocated driver(s) entering. The vehicle should not be left unattended at any time. Exceptions to this are only with explicit permission of Pride Canterbury. The vehicle keys must be in possession of either the allocated driver(s) at all times. Keys should not be left in the vehicle when it is not in motion.
You must not enter, move in, or leave the Parade Staging Area or Festival Site without specific direction from a member of the security team or the organising committee.
Do not drive over 5 mph at any time, with hazards flashing when you are moving and stationary.
We reserve the right to check the inside and outside of the vehicle. Please check that you don’t have anything in the car that would be considered offensive, be illegal, be glass, or be alcohol, or against our terms and conditions.
All materials or equipment used on or attached to the vehicle must be firmly secured, fireproofed, and adhere to relevant safety regulations (i.e. electrical items must be PAT tested).
Only our security vehicles, Kent Fire Rescue Service and Kent Police may use sirens and horns in the parade.
