Everyone needs support at some point in our lives. All of these services are here for you – whenever you may need them.
Please note that Pride Canterbury is not a support service. We have signposted services below that we think could be useful, however this is not a complete list + others are available. You may contact us if you feel a service is missing.
Crisis Support
In an emergency, do not hesitate or delay, dial 999.
NHS 111
If you need help now, but it’s not an emergency, go to 111.nhs.uk or call 111. Free. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Samaritans
They are there to listen to anyone who needs someone. No judgement. No pressure. You can call them anytime, from any phone, for free, or by email or letter. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
LGBTQ+ Helplines
These are services offering LGBTQ+ specific helplines. This is not a complete list and other services are available.
Switchboard LGBT+
All Switchboard LGBT+ volunteers self-define as LGBT+. They are available to talk things through confidentially.
LGBT Foundation
The LGBT Foundation is a national charity delivering advice, support and information services to LGBT communities.
AKT
AKT supports LGBTQ+ young people aged 16–25 in the uk who are facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.
Galop
Galop supports LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse + violence.
MindOut
MindOut is a mental health service run by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people.

Mind (national) and East Kent Mind provides signposting mental health support and resources.
Stonewall
Stonewall provides a variety of LGBTQ+ information and resources.
NHS KMPT
If you need help in a mental health emergency, the local Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust has a number of resources that you may wish to access. If you live elsewhere, find your local mental health helpline.
FFLAG
FFLAG provides information for families and friends of LGBTQ+ individuals.
KMDA
Kent & Medway Domestic Abuse Services provides a resource of all Domestic Abuse related services within Kent and Medway and information to support those affected by domestic abuse.
Rising Sun
The Rising Sun Domestic Violence & Abuse Service supports women and children affected by domestic abuse in Canterbury and East Kent, including LGBTQ+ individuals.
The BeYou Project
The BeYou Team are here to support you, offering a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where young LGBTQ+ people can meet to socialise, have fun and help each other.
We Are With You
Get free, confidential support with alcohol, drugs or mental health from one of their local services or online.
NHS Kent and Medway Talking Therapies
Kent and Medway Talking Therapies is a free and confidential NHS service offering mental health support across Kent and Medway.

Festival Safe have lots of information on keeping safe at large events.

University of Kent students run an LGBTQ+ Society, running a range of social events throughout the year.

LGBTQ+ Mythbusters
Student Ambassadors facilitate conversations with students about their experiences, both in terms of their sexuality and/or identity, their coming out process and also about university life, focused primarily towards schools/colleges (year 9 and older). Delivered by the University of Kent.
